As of 5 a.m. Saturday, large metal trashy bins will be placed at certain major intersections in West Hollywood to restrict street traffic.
The bins are positioned to allow 10 feet of emergency lane clearance and serve as barriers to protect people and property in the event of protest marches on those streets or attempts to rob or vandalize local businesses.
Bin will be placed at the following locations:
- Sunset Boulevard at Doheny Drive
- Sunset Boulevard at Havenhurst Drive
- Holloway Drive at Santa Monica Boulevard.
- La Cienega Boulevard at Santa Monica Boulevard.
- Doheny Drive at Santa Monica Boulevard.
- Melrose Ave at Doheny Drive
- Melrose Ave at La Cienega Boulevard
- Beverly Boulevard at San Vicente Boulevard
- Robertson Boulevard at Beverly Boulevard

I am sure this will be a surprise to the local residents of West Hollywood.All the dumpsters will do is block traffic and confuse drivers.You will get the certain ones to drive around them and that will be a hazard.Do anyone know how long the blockages will last?
I agree, for once, with Eric Schmidt. The east side has never been treated like it is a valued part of the City. I also question why the City is doing this. There has not been any looting at any of the protests lately in the City. They have been peaceful. Why is the City of West Hollywood trying to restrict protest marches? It is a right to protest.
Does this really help prevent looting? If they have to do this, shouldn’t there at least be warning cones or something so they are easier to see in the dark?
won’t protesters just walk around them? I’ve actually seen cars going right around the bin at Robertson and Beverly. What happened to the police? or have we defunded them?

The east side has always been treated like the ugly stepchild of the City. The Captain stood in Plummer Park over a year ago and said he was opening a Sheriff sub-station on the east side and even had a location for it. The crosswalks on the eastside on SMB are some of the most dangerous in the County. As long as I have been in WEHO (23 years), the east siders have always been treated like second class Citizens. Ah, no, Eric Jon, the Eastside is neither the ugly stepchild nor are we second class citizens. Yes, the LASD is opening a sub station right across from Plummer Park. That little thing called the Covid pandemic has slowed down many projects, this one included. Have some patience. And while it’s true that the Eastside used to be the more industrial part of West Hollywood, that has long since passed.
