From the Ground Up, a Water Fountain Shoots Over Santa Monica Boulevard

The results of a DUI taking out a fire hydrant on Santa Monica Boulevard and Hancock. (Video by Huntley Woods)

Those driving by in a hurry last night might have mistaken it for an in-ground water fountain, maybe an addition to the colorful streetlights added recently to call out West Hollywood’s Boystown.

But this one, captured in the video above by local resident Huntley Woods, was the result of a crash into a fire hydrant by a driver arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The crash occurred on the northwest

corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Hancock, in front of the Tender Greens restaurant.

Lt. Jose Aguirro of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station said the suspect was arrested about 11:20 p.m. last night. There is no report of other injuries.

Hopefully some of the water will give Tender Greens a good washing so they can get an A rating again from the health department. lol
