Vehicle Burglaries Down Sharply in West Hollywood

There are only two reports of vehicle burglaries in a recently released list of Part 1 (serious) crimes reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station from Nov. 11 to Nov. 17. That’s a substantial decline from those reported in the previous four weeks.

Nov. 11

Other Burglary. 900 block Larrabee Street from 3:44 p.m. to 8 a.m. An unknown suspect cut the lock and removed a bicycle from the secured sub parking garage of the apartment complex. #07493

Residential Burglary (Attempt). 7500 block Lexington Avenue at 4:31 a.m. A man attempted to pry a rear window open to gain access to the residence but was unsuccessful. #07464

Strong Arm Robbery. 8600 block West Knoll Drive at 8:13 p.m. A woman arranged to sell her purse and provided her address to the suspect. The suspect arrived to pick up the purse and suddenly shoved the victim to the ground. The suspect grabbed the purse and ran to an awaiting vehicle. #074871

Nov. 12

Aggravated Assault – Knife (Suspect Arrested). 600 block North Robertson Boulevard at 12:15 a.m. A man was standing at the bar when the suspect bumped into him several times. An argument ensued, and the suspect pulled a knife from his pocket and pointed it at the victim. Security guards intervened and removed the suspect from the club. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #07488

Grand Theft. 8500 block Sunset Boulevard between 6 p.m. and 7:45 a.m. An unknown suspect removed the hinges on the doors to a storage unit to gain access and removed an IPad, cash register, credit card reader, and $300 cash. #07549

Residential Burglary. 7500 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 3:30 a.m. A man was sleeping in his bed when the suspect used force on the front door to gain entry. The suspect saw the victim and ran from the residence. #07491

Vehicle Burglary. Santa Monica Boulevard / San Vicente BoulevardBetween 10:55 p.m. and 1:50 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, wireless mouse, and notebooks from the trunk. No sign of forced entry. #07511.

Nov. 13

Strong Arm Robbery. 8500 block Melrose Avenue at 5:58 p.m. Two women and four men cut the security cords and removed seven purses from a display and attempted to leave the store without payment. When confronted by store security, one of the men brandished wire cutters in a threatening manner. The suspect weres allowed to leave. #07525

Nov. 14

Armed Robbery (Suspects Arrested). Crescent Heights Boulevard / Edinburgh Avenue at 4 a.m. A man was walking westbound on the sidewalk on Santa Monica Boulevard when a vehicle pulled up next to him. Three suspects exited the vehicle and confronted the man while armed with a handgun and baseball bat. The suspects demanded the victim’s property and he complied. #07535. The suspects, who also were involved in the following incident, were arrested by Sheriff’s Station detectives.

Armed Robbery (Suspects Arrested). 600 block Robertson Boulevard at 4:30 a.m. A man was walking southbound on the sidewalk on Santa Monica Boulevard when a vehicle pulled up next to him. Three suspects exited the vehicle and confronted the man while armed with a handgun and baseball bat. The suspects demanded the victim’s property and he complied. #07536. The suspects, who also were involved in the incident above, were arrested by Sheriff’s Station detectives.

Nov. 15

Grand Theft. 8500 block Sunset Boulevard between 1 and 2 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a watch from the victim’s gym locker. No sign of forced entry. #07574

Other Burglary. 8500 block Holloway Drive between 4 and 6 p.m. An unknown suspect gained access to a secured parking garage by unknown means. The suspect cut the locks to two bicycles and removed both bikes. #07583

Nov. 16

Other Burglary. 8700 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 5:43 a.m. An unknown suspect used an unlocked back door to gain entry and removed soda and an iPad from the interior. #07594

Vehicle Burglary. 600 block Westmount Drive between 3 and 4 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a laptop computer and portable charger from the trunk. #07597
