Thefts From Vehicles Were on the Rise in West Hollywood Last Week

Thefts from vehicles were on the rise last week, with 13 of them reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station between Aug. 19 and Aug. 27.  The report, which lists all Part 1 (serious) crimes reported in that period, also notes two residential break-ins on Aug. 22, one involving a home in the 1100 block of Curson Avenue and the other on the 8400 block Fountain Avenue. In both cases arrests were made, however, two suspects escaped from the Fountain Avenue location. The report also notes that the suspects arrested by the California Highway Patrol on Aug. 21 after a dramatic highspeed chase on the Golden State Freeway turned up property in their car linking them to five vehicle burglaries in Beverly Hills and two incidents in West Hollywood. The suspects, who are from San Francisco, alleged broke into a car at 632 N. La Cienega Blvd. before they sped away.

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon. 600 block San Vicente Boulevard at 10:20 p.m. A man was hit in the face with a metal trash can lid by another man during an argument in the park. #05591

Grand Theft. 600 block North Robertson Boulevard between 12:10 and 2 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, two passports, earphones, music processor, and a credit card from the front floorboard of the unlocked vehicle. #05576

Armed Robbery. 7700 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 3:30 and 4 a.m. 0330-0400. A man was walking WB on the sidewalk when two men approached him and pushed him against the wall of a business. One of the suspects placed an unknown object against the victim’s stomach and demanded his property. The victim complied. #05636

Vehicle Burglary. Sunset Boulevard / Kings Road between 9:05 and 11:45 pm. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, charger, and paperwork from the back seat. #05593

Aug.  20

Grand Theft. 600 block North San Vicente Boulevard at 9 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a bag containing a wallet, car key, $10 cash, and two cell phones from the ground near the basketball courts. #05613

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect arrested). 1000 block Stanley Avenue at 8:45 a.m. A woman was standing on the sidewalk when a man approached her and forcefully pulled a bag of clothing from her grasp. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies and the clothing was recovered. #05597

Strong Arm Robbery. 8800 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 3:1 p.m. A man removed clothing from a display area and left the store without payment. When confronted outside the store by an employee, the suspect threatened to hurt the victim. The suspect was allowed to leave. #05603

Vehicle Burglary (Suspects Arrested). 8400 block Melrose Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Two men smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, sunglasses, cosmetics, and an electronics charger. The suspects ran to a White Dodge Charger that was parked in the alley and drove away. #05608

Vehicle Burglary (Suspects Arrested). 631 La Cienega Boulevard at 6:30 p.m. Two men smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a laptop bag containing a laptop computer, portable printer, and Valentino shoes. A witness saw the suspects get into a White Dodge Charger that was parked next to the burglarized vehicle and drive away at a high rate of speed. The suspects were detained by California Highway Patrol and arrested by West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies. Property was recovered inside the suspects’ vehicle linking them to five vehicle burglaries in Beverly Hills and two incidents in West Hollywood. The suspects are from San Francisco. #05610 & 05608

Vehicle Burglary. 9000 block Melrose Avenue between 7 and 9 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed two backpacks, both of which contained laptop computers and eyeglasses. One of the backpacks also contained car keys and a small Disney bag. Both backpacks were taken from the rear floorboard. #05611

Grand Theft. Ashcroft Avenue / Robertson Boulevard between 10 and 10:30 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a laptop computer, tablet computer, and Wi-Fi device from the trunk of the unlocked vehicle. #05641

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 8400 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 12:46 p.m. A man removed a large amount of cosmetics and left the store without payment. When confronted by an employee, the suspect raised his fist and threatened to hurt the victim. The suspect was allowed to leave and was arrested by responding deputies. #05633

Vehicle Burglary. 600 block North La Peer Drive between 10:17 and 10:42 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a jacket, shoes, Ferragamo watch, sweater, and silver bracelet from the back seat. #05642

Vehicle Burglary. 8901 Santa Monica Boulevard between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed an empty wallet from underneath the front passenger’s seat. #05643

Vehicle Burglary. 8300 block Sunset Boulevard between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window and removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, camera, camera lens, and drone from the front passenger’s side seat. The suspect also removed a backpack containing a fanny pack, Nintendo switch, and glasses from the back seat. #05645

Residential Burglary (Suspect Arrested) 1100 block Curson Avenue at 3:10 p.m. Two men removed a window screen and forced the window open to gain access to the residence. The suspects were arrested by responding deputies. #05655

Residential Burglary (Suspect Arrested). 8400 block Fountain Avenue at 8:40 p.m. Three men lifted a sliding door on the balcony off its track to gain entry and ransacked the interior. Responding deputies arrested one suspect as he was running from the area. Two other suspects escaped. #05662

Vehicle Burglary. 600 block Croft Avenue between 3:35 and 4:20 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a bag containing a laptop computer and an iPad from the back seat. #05660

Armed Robbery. 8900 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 4:50 p.m. A man removed food items from the deli and attempted to leave the store without payment. When confronted by an employee, the suspect picked up a wine bottle and threatened to hit the victim with the bottle. The suspect was allowed to leave. #05677

Vehicle Burglary. 8700 block Melrose Avenue between 12:45 and 2:15 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack from the rear floorboard. #05665

Grand Theft. 1200 block North Fuller Avenue at 7:30 a.m. An unknown suspect removed two gold necklaces from the victim’s bedroom. #05737

Other Burglary (Suspect Arrested). 1200 block North Kings Road at 12:58 a.m. A man used a mail key to open a wall of resident mailboxes and removed mail. The suspect also removed packages from the mailroom. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #05685

Vehicle Burglary. 1100 block Detroit Street between 12:30 and 1 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing clothing from the front seat. #05683

Vehicle Burglary. 700 block West Knoll Drive between 11 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. the next day.. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a luggage bag containing an iPad, passport, and laptop computer. #05690

Other Burglary. 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard at 4:45 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front window of the business to gain access and removed $50 cash and checks from the cash register. #05704

The suspects are from San Francisco.” So, CHP were the ones who caught these dirtbags, and had to wait for our do-nothing deputies to arrest them? Sounds about right. Look for car break-ins to drop for the next two weeks, then go back to every other day, once the Bay Area gangs send replacements. WHY is no one doing a joint investigation… Read more »
