The City of West Hollywood and the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will present two small business seminars during National Small Business Week, which recognizes the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
According to the United States Small Business Administration, more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.
The first seminar, “Everything You Need to Know about Doing Business in the City of West Hollywood but Didn’t Know You Needed to Ask,” will take place on Wednesday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the West Hollywood Library Community Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. Those attending will learn the ins-and-outs of opening and operating a successful business in the City of West Hollywood and will get helpful hints from city departments and divisions including Building & Safety, Planning & Development Services, Code Compliance, and Event & Film Services. The second seminar, “It’s All About HR, “will take place on Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Library Community Meeting Room. Those attending will learn about human resources and how to be in compliance with California laws. The topics of this seminar will include harassment training, independent contractors, payroll requirements, and time-off rules. This seminar is $20 per person; space is limited.
