Right-Wing Street Artists Deface WeHo Billboard

Some unidentified street artists who are said to be part of The Faction, a right-wing collective, have defaced a Bill Maher billboard on the northeast corner of La Cienega Boulevard and Holloway Drive.

Billboard on the northeast corner of La Cienega Boulevard and Holloway Drive.

The billboard was promoting Maher’s HBO show, “Real Time,” whose new season returns on Friday. The artists replaced Maher’s image with a blank face and changed the slogan “The Whole Truth and Nothing But” to read “The Whole Narrative and Nothing But.” Narrative has become a term used to describe the practice of combining verifiable facts, half-truths and misinformation to promote political interests.

The artists also covered over the letters HBO with NPC. The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the billboard story, says that means “non-playable character.”

The Faction’s members are said to be close to Sabo, another right-wing street artist, who claimed responsibility in June 2017 for defacing signs for the City of West Hollywood’s WeHo Pedals bike share program with promotions of a new book by controversial right-wing propagandist Milo Yiannopoulos.

“Let’s just say I’ve been busy this weekend,” Sabo said in a post on his @unsavoryagent Twitter page along with a photo showing WeHo Pedals bicycles bearing signs promoting Yiannopoulos’ “Dangerous,” a book that scheduled for release July 2017.

Sabo didn’t explained his reason for targeting West Hollywood, however its identity as an overwhelmingly liberal and Democratic city was likely a major factor.  On his website, Sabo describes his mission as “kicking liberals in the teeth.”

More likely: this is a publicity stunt by HBO.

I guess no one was paying enough attention to him on social. And LOL @ “street artist”. I mean they chose Bill Maher. That’s like bullying the disabled kid with cancer in middle school or Dem libs defacing a Tomi Lahren billboard. #weaksauce

OMG, this is so stupid. That said, it always amazes me to find angry conservatives (gay or straight) who choose to live in or around WeHo. There are plenty of places they could move to where they would be (in theory) much happier, such as Louisiana, Kentucky, Kansas, etc. I suspect that Sabo (a Mexican) and gay Republicans feel safer here in California. Funny how that works.

It took some time to do this, how could the WeHo sheriff deputies not even notice the late night work happening on such a prominent billboard? Too busy at the brothels?
