Fourteen Thefts from Cars with Losses of $40,000 in WeHo Last Week

Last week was a good one for vehicle burglars. A report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station lists 14 thefts from cars, with losses totaling $39,907. Some of that, of course, is the cost of damage to the vehicles, which means it didn’t all go into the pockets of the thieves. Below is a list of those and other Part I, or serious, crimes in West Hollywood from May 21 to 27.

May 21

crime, west hollywood sheriff's stationStrong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 1000 block North La Brea Avenue at 8:15 p.m. A man was inside the store talking on his cell phone when a man approached him from behind and punched him on his neck. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect picked up the victim’s cell phone and left the store through an emergency exit. Loss $300. The suspect was arrested one day after this incident on an unrelated charge. #03295

Vehicle Burglary 8400 block Santa Monica Boulevard
between 11:30 a.m. and noon. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed two briefcases containing two laptop computers from the rear floorboard. Loss $4,000. #03311

Vehicle Burglary. 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard
between 6 and 6:45 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window and removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, camera, camera lens, and external hard drive from the rear floorboard. Loss $13,000. #03321

Vehicle Burglary. 9000 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a calculator from the back seat and a backpack containing a laptop computer and textbook from the rear floorboard. Loss $2,600. #03324

Vehicle Burglary. 900 block Ogden Drive between 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 am. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and the rear driver’s side window and removed a leather bag from the back seat. Loss $820. #03330

between 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a pair of sunglasses and a GoPro from the center console. No sign of forced entry. Loss $640. #03338

Vehicle Burglary. 1100 block Greenacre Avenue
between 5:45 p.m. and 6:45 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a Go Pro from the center console and registration papers from the glove box. No sign of forced entry. Loss $550. #03342

Vehicle Burglary. 9000 block Santa Monica Boulevard
between 9:40 and 11:30 pm. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a bag containing a camera, two camera lenses, and miscellaneous camera equipment from the back seat. Loss $5,500. #03344

May 23

Aggravated Assault – Knife (Suspect Arrested). Holloway Drive / Sunset Boulevard at 8:45 a.m. A man pulled a box cutter and threatened another man while fighting on the sidewalk. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #03331

Grand Theft. 600 block Robertson Boulevard at 12:50 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a backpack containing $800 cash from the front seat of the unlocked vehicle. The vehicle was unattended in a valet line when the incident occurred. Loss $800. ($200 backpack recovered). #03327

Strong Arm Robbery. Beverly Boulevard / Robertson Boulevard at 11:15 a.m. A women was walking on the sidewalk when a man approached her from behind and pulled her purse from her shoulder. The suspect fled the area on Robertson Boulevard with the purse. Loss $300. #03336

Vehicle Burglary. 700 block N San Vicente Boulevard
between 9:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a briefcase containing and iPad from the front seat. Loss $950. #03359

Vehicle Burglary. Crescent Heights Boulevard / Santa Monica Boulevard between 8:30 and 9 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed two briefcases containing a laptop computer, cufflinks, glasses, earphones, and a hat from the rear floorboard. Loss $3,700. #03371

Aggravated Assault – Hands, Fist, Feet (Suspect Arrested)
1200 block North La Brea Avenue at 5:35 p.m. A man was punched one time in the face by another man during an Airbnb rental eviction. The suspect was arrested. #03389

Other Burglary. 8200 block Santa Monica Boulevard
at 12:29 p.m. A man removed two pairs of blue jeans and left the store without payment. The suspect tried to come back into the store to retrieve a bag he’d left behind, but an employee locked the door. The suspect kicked the door open to gain access and removed the bag. Loss $350. #03405

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 8200 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 10:17 p.m. A man removed eight magazines from a display area and attempted to leave the store without payment. When confronted by an employee, the suspect violently pulled away and ran from the store. Responding deputies located and arrested the suspect and recovered the stolen magazines. Loss $78 (recovered). #03397

Grand Theft. 8800 block Santa Monica Boulevard
between midnight and 1:30 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a cell phone and wallet from the victim’s purse while on the dance floor. Loss $1,200. #03406

Vehicle Burglary. 8400 block Sunset Boulevard
between 9:45 p.m. and 12:45 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a purse containing $2,000 cash from the backseat. Loss $2,900. #03413

May 27

Grand Theft. 8800 block Santa Monica Boulevard
between 12:30 and 2:30 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a wallet and cell phone from the victim’s purse while on the dance floor. Loss $970. #03430

Grand Theft. 600 block North Robertson Boulevard
between 10:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. The victim’s Rolex watch was taken from his wrist while inside the club. Loss $6,500. #03466

Strong Arm Robbery, Attempt. 600 block North La Cienega Boulevard at 12:30 am. A man was inside the bathroom of the club when two men approached him from behind and demanded his Rolex watch. The victim began to struggle with the men but was able to retain his watch. No loss. #03436

Vehicle Burglary. 7800 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 11:45 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a leather bag, laptop computer, makeup, clothing, and a gold bracelet from the interior. Loss $3,500. #03428

Vehicle Burglary. 600 block Orlando Avenue
between 7 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the passenger’s side window and removed an iPod, sunglasses, and $45 cash from the center console. Loss $600. #03451

Vehicle Burglary. 500 block Alfred Street between 2 p.m. and 9:40 a.m. An unknown suspect removed reading glasses and a set of keys from the center console. No sign of forced entry. Loss $347. #03458

Ok your dumb for leaving thousands of dollars in your car … Period. This is LA county not just WEHO! I leave nothing in my car! If you leave that kind of money and jewels in your car expect it to be taken. I always think ahead and apparently these people are too rich to think about that. Who in their right mind leaves money in their car . It’s called 101 what not to leave in your car. To me the people that left the shot in their car are moronic…
