The selection committee included members of the Women’s Advisory Board, a WeHo Chamber of Commerce representative and West Hollywood city staff. Candidates must work for an organization or entity in West Hollywood or work for an organization whose efforts greatly affect the community. According to a chamber press release, they must have demonstrated record of great achievement and/or civil involvement in the West Hollywood community. Proceeds raised from this year’s Women in Leadership Awards event will benefit the National Council of Jewish Women.

  1. CA Native if you would just take some initiative and do a little research you would know that all the companies you mentioned that are “not in weho” where just stating where they are based, basically like their corporate office. Snaidero has a location here in WeHo on Robertson Blvd, PAWS/LA does a lot with local involvement with animal welfare in the community and Nadia Sutton who is a WeHo icon and one of the founders of PAWS is a huge activist and is constantly utilizing that organization in this community. And really I could go on…these people are not just chosen at random like the article states, “they must have demonstrated record of great achievement and/or civil involvement in the West Hollywood community” so maybe you should just get a little more involved in the community to know how and why they were chosen for this award. You could also reach out to the Women’s Advisory Board’s staff liaison Larissa Fooks at (323) 848-6413 if you need further clarification.

  2. Curious announcement. Announced by the Chamber but it looks like it is a City award and the selection committee is mostly city staff and a city commission. Several are groups located far from Weho (one is located in Torrance, one in DTLA). It would be helpful to know what contribution and/or relationship there is to WeHo, if any, that would prompt an award from our city. This would help with public support.
