WeHo to Residents: We’re Still Open For Business Despite Federal Shutdown

Despite the federal government shutdown, the City of West Hollywood issued a statement Tuesday letting residents know it remains open for business.

The shutdown, which is the first in 17 years, began early Tuesday as Congress failed to come to an agreement on President Obama’s health-care initiative.

“West Hollywood does not rely heavily on federal funding or support so there will be very little impact on city services due to the federal shutdown,” the city release said. “However, community members and agencies delivering services to our residents, like others around the nation, will feel the impacts of reduced federal services during the shutdown. We are in contact with local services providers and the community to assess the impacts and will determine if any additional support or resources are needed from the city.”

Similarly, when across-the-board national “sequester” budget cuts took effect in February, there was little impact on West Hollywood.
