If you want to learn more about WeHo’s gay history, the Lavender Effect is happy to give you a tour.

The Lavender Effect, in partnership with Out & About Tours, is conducting a walking tour on Jan. 29 to call out places in West Hollywood that have historic or culturally significant meaning for LGBT people.

Along the way you’ll find out where Judy Garland used to hang with her “lavender lads,” pass the home of the first pair of pair of chaps worn without underwear and see the bar where the phrase “lipstick lesbian” was first uttered.

“We are honored to continue the legacy of One City One Pride – Stuart Timmons’ West Hollywood LGBTQ history mobile tour”, said Andy Sacher, founder of the Lavender Effect. “We have been passed the baton, and we are so excited to run with it and keep this fabulously entertaining and informative tour going throughout the year,” added Jim Anzide, founder of Out & About Tours.

The WeHo walking tour will begin at 11 a.m. on Jan. 29 at the Lavender Effect’s office at 8920 Sunset Blvd. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online or by calling 1-844-GAY-TOUR.
