The City of West Hollywood tomorrow will launch a series of workshops at which residents will be invited to offer their thoughts on three new public spaces in the West Hollywood Design District.

The public spaces are located at Melrose Avenue/Norwich Drive, Beverly Boulevard/Bonner Drive and Robertson Boulevard north of Melrose Avenue. They are part of the West Hollywood Design District Streetscape Master Plan, adopted by the West Hollywood City Council last year.

Tomorrow’s workshop will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m., beginning from and ending at West Hollywood Library’s Community Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. south of Santa Monica. Validated parking will be available at the West Hollywood Park five-story public parking structure.

The workshop will begin with a presentation on the design elements that make for great public spaces. Then workshop participants will break into groups to walk through the future public spaces. After visiting the sites, participants will return to the library to discuss the look, feel and character of those spaces.

Two subsequent workshops will be held in July and in August. Participants in he July 26 workshop, held from 10 a.m. to noon at West Hollywood Library’s Community Meeting Room, will review and discuss design concepts, provide feedback on site plans and discuss materials and amenities. On Aug, 23 the final workshop will focus on selecting a preferred design. (The time and location for the August workshop have yet to be determined.)

More information about the West Hollywood Design District Streetscape Master Plan is available online.
