WeHo Chamber PAC Endorses Duran, Prang
The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee has endorsed incumbent Mayor Jeffrey Prang and Councilmember John Duran in the 2013 race for two seats on the city council.
The endorsement was announced today by Genevieve Morrill, president of the Chamber. “We proudly acknowledge their continued leadership for our community and their consistent support for balanced, smart growth to foster job creation and preservation of West Hollywood’s vibrant community character,” Morrill said in an announcement to Chamber members.
Members of the Chambers’ political action committee are attorney Kate Bartolo; Hany Haddad, vice president, U.S. Bank, and Chamber chairperson; Keith Kaplan of the Kaplan Group, who is executive director of the Fur Information Council of America; Owen Ward of Off World Entertainment, and Misti Cooper, owner of Yogurt Stop,
Morrill said the Chamber will host an event for both candidates on Feb. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Christopher Guy showroom at 8900 Beverly Blvd. near North Swall Drive.

Well, this is more than a little disappointing. The Chamber, the entity we think of as representing our local businesses (that residents support every day), has thrown in with big developers who have no interest whatever in our City other than how it can improve the bottom line of their balance sheets.
And, it’s not as if our local businesses don’t suffer at the hands of our out-of-touch and arrogant City Hall everyday. I have been involved more than a few times fighting on the side of our local businesses against the Council. It leaves me to wonder how they really feel about their local patrons.
In a poll I did last year associated with a commentary I wrote, along with all the other community oriented ideals that were supported by a wide margin, our local businesses were supported by 91% of the residents responding. Apparently our love isn’t returned.
Or is this just more of the cynical game of supporting the entrenched establishment because you’re too afraid not to?
I strongly suggest that every local business that does NOT want to align themselves with big developers against the residents write a check today to one or more of the non-incumbent candidates to counter what the Chamber is going to spend to keep the old guard in office. And resident, the next time you stroll into a local shop or restaurant or bar, ask them if they belong to the Chamber and want their money used to support the incumbents.
And one other thing, it you’re so sure the incumbents have the right answers, why didn’t you sponsor a debate this year so all your members and the public would have a chance to compare their ideas for improving business in WeHo with those of the non-incumbents?

……so THESE people are endorsing candidates in WEST HOLLYWOOD?????….REALLY???….SHAMEFUL!!!!….wake up weho, the attack dogs are out and they don’t want you to use your OWN brain and make your OWN decisions….and by the way, Genevieve Morrill lives in los angeles and has personally/secretly encourage at least TWO people that i know of to run for council…..they didn’t, but it speaks volumes

SHOCKING!!!….when you see it all on one page like this…..yes, WHO owns weho is a good question!!!….can you say {{{{{{{ D-E-V-E-L-O-P-E-R-S }}}}}}} boys and girls???….the city is clearly for sale and our city council members are selling it all off one block at a time…..who wants to live in a concrete jungle of buildings 6 or more stories up creating a dark tunnel along santa monica blvd, sunset blvd and la brea ave????…..not to mention the insane gridlock of cars on all streets in every direction….do the RESIDENTS really want a Mini- Manhattan???…ohhhh yes, that’s right, the city doesn’t ASK its residents want they want…..they just ramrod their developer friends projects down our throats….thankfully, a lot of people are starting to fight back against this insanity…….join the fight now people, once the deal is done, there’s nothing you can do but choke on the mess the council has created…..GREAT JOB putting this page together folks!!!
